IMPLEMENTATION PROBLEMS AND PROSPECTS OF THE UK-FRANCE LANCASTER HOUSE TREATIES: EXPERIENCE FOR UKRAINE

Abstract

The article analyzes the current state of implementation of the Lancaster House Treaty 2010 between United Kingdom and France, which defined medium-term main directions of bilateral cooperation in security and defense sector, particularly in sensitive nationally oriented aspects such as nuclear policy and intelligence. The main problems faced by the parties in the implementation of the provisions of a bilateral agreement are outlined in the context of resist to new asymmetric threats and challenges posed by Russia’s aggressive policy in the world, activities of radical Islamist groups resulted to actualization of the collective security goals of North Atlantic Treaty Organization. There are given points separately that make a positive experience for Ukraine, in particular for the development, with the aim of strengthening the defense capability and creation of political union, a close partnership in the security and defense sector with the nearest neighbors, allies, including NATO members, who may face hybrid tactics of Russia’s aggression, which Moscow used for the first time in Ukraine.
