Author Guidelines
The Editorial Board of the journal asks the authors to comply with the following requirements when preparing manuscripts for publication in Strategic Priorities.
General provisions
- In the research article the author (solely or with the co-authors) presents the intermediate or final results of a scientific research, highlights a specific question on the topic of the dissertation or the issue of a separate scientific research, establishes scientific priorities, makes the scientific potential available to specialists. Citation is allowed in a volume not exceeding 15% of the total volume of the article. Thus, the original author's text in the article should be at least 85%.
- The editorial board accepts papers that have not been previously published, are solely owned by the author (or co-authored by several authors), and correspond with the subject matter of the journal and these Requirements.
- Manuscripts that do not meet these Requirements will not be reviewed and considered by the Editorial Board.
- The process of reviewing the article lasts no more than three months. All the manuscripts submitted to the editorial office in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (Order No. 32 of January 15, 2018) undergo an independent double secret review procedure. The results of the review, comments, suggestions and recommendations are sent to the author by e-mail. Other correspondence with the authors is not provided.
- The decision on the papers submitted by the author is taken by the Editorial Board. The Scientific Council of the National Institute for Strategic Studies recommends the whole manuscript of the journal to be printed.
- Approved for printing, the article is preprinted in the editorial office. The editors reserve the right to carry out, without agreement with the author, minor literary editing and shortening of texts (if necessary) with preservation of the author's style. In all other cases, the edited version of the paper is agreed with the author.
- By sending the manuscript to the email address of the journal (publish@niss.gov.ua), the author: declares that the copyright to all the structural elements of the article belongs to him or her, gives consent to the processing of personal data in accordance with the current legislation of Ukraine.
- Manuscripts presented by the author are not returned to the author. Articles rejected by the Editorial Board without the right of revision may not be published in other periodicals of the NISS. Reviews of the considered papers are kept for three years.
Requirements for the structure and formatting of the article
- The article should be written in Ukrainian or English and contain the following obligatory elements (presented in the following order in the manuscript):
- UDC code;
- ORCID;
ORCID – Open Researcher and Contributor ID. Registration in ORCID is free of charge. Find out more.
- title of the paper in English and Ukrainian (in CAPITAL LETTERS);
- information about the author in Ukrainian and English languages: surname, name, patronymic; academic degree, academic status; full name of the position, place of work (full name of the institution or company); locality; country; contact phone (with the local code if necessary); e-mail address;
- identical summaries in Ukrainian and English languages of not less than 1800 characters (with spaces), structured in the following way: the relevance of the publication, the purpose, methods and limits of the research, the results obtained, their practical significance, conclusions. Texts of summaries are placed after the title in appropriate language (for Ukrainian-language articles - first in Ukrainian, then in English, for English-language articles – vice versa);
- keywords (from three to eight, are given after the appropriate subtitle, which is shown in bold italic (Ключові слова: / Keywords:);
- the list of sources, containing not less than 10 titles and formatted in accordance to ДСТУ 8302-2015;
- references (detailed list of literature in Latin characters), formatted according to the international bibliographic standard APA. Publications described in Cyrillic letters should contain information on the publication transliterated according to the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine “On the Ordering of the Transliteration of the Ukrainian Alphabet in Latin letters” from January 27, 2010 No. 55: the name and initials of the author (authors); the transliterated title; the title in English in brackets; transliterated data on the source where the publication was made public, the place of publication, the publishing house and the year of publication, the sequence, etc. (e. g.: Illiashenko, S.M., & Shypulina, Yu.S. (2007). Tovarna innovatsiina polityka [Product innovative policy]. Sumy: VTD «Universytetska knyha» [in Ukrainian]; Kotler,F.,& Keller, K.L. (2007). Marketynh menedzhment [Marketing management] (12nd ed., rev.). Saint Petersburg: Piter [in Ukrainian]; Illiashenko, S.M., & Shypulina, Yu.S. (2012). - The article volume together with the list of sources, tables, diagrams, etc., should not exceed 20 thousand symbols with intervals.
- The text should be typed in Microsoft Word text editor without headers in Times New Roman font, 14 pt size with a line spacing of 1.5 / 1.15; fields are usual: upper, lower – 2 cm, left – 3 cm, right – 1.5 cm; paragraph indention – 1.25 cm. Page numbering – lower right.
- References to sources are presented in square brackets, where the source number from the list of literature is indicated and, if necessary, the page (e. g: [7, pp. 11]). Numbering of references in the text of the article corresponds to the sequence in the list of sources used. Footnotes and notes are processed page by page, automatically in Microsoft Word. Bibliographic descriptions in them should meet requirements of ДСТУ 8302-2015.
- The illustrations must meet the following requirements: all illustrations must be in black and white; elements of illustrations made in the Microsoft Word editor should be grouped; graphics and diagrams are performed in Microsoft Graph or Microsoft Excel; inscriptions on drawings, legends to them etc. are presented in the language of the paper; drawings should be tied to the text; formulas are executed in the Microsoft Equation 3.0 editor or subsequent versions; scanned illustrations should be in .jpg format.
- Individual papers of graduate students, applicants and authors without an academic degree must necessarily be submitted together with a review of a scientific adviser or a specialist on the subject matter that has a scientific degree.
- In the papers of graduate students a footnote is presented on the first page. It should contain the following information: initials and surnames of the scientific adviser, his or her academic degree and academic title.
- The responsibility for the reliability of the presented facts and data, the validity of the conclusions and recommendations made rests with the author(s) of the paper. In cases of scientific incompetence (plagiarism) detection, copyright infringement is the responsibility of the author (authors) of the manuscript provided.
- The text of the paper, signed by the author (in the electronic version - the signature scanned), is sent by e-mail to the address: publish@niss.gov.ua. The file name should be in Latin letters.
